I’ve been thinking about you wonderful paid subscribers quite a bit. Not in a transactional way. More thinking about what it means when someone chooses to support a line of communication or a rhythm of work. To me, it means a lot. Money ain’t growing on trees and I’m grateful. I joined Substack less than a year ago and I’ve been sitting with the responsibility of it. I know. I might be taking it way too seriously! But truly, the paid subscriber is what carries the weight to me when it comes to Substack. I want to do right by that subscription!
So, I’ve been trying to figure out how to use it to give something back to you. I’m still listening for what feels most connected and right to offer beyond the writing itself. But so far, I’ve decided that the support you’ve given will allow me to keep an associate close who can help me record and edit and protect the time it takes to write, research and build things with intention. I’m not sure if it’s the right course. But I thought I’d start sharing quieter things and more personal ideas here. Small video dispatches and thoughts from the road and whisps of clarity or questioning as they come. Little moments captured in between meetings, airports, long drives, you get it. It’s my way of chronicling this time as it’s happening, just for you. It’s not super polished by a long shot. I’m just practicing being present and sharing in a new way.
Thank you. I mean it, yall. Thanks really.
