We talked about what it means to leave behind traditional institutions and speak freely in spaces where our voices don’t have to be filtered or flattened. Terry shared what led to his departure from ABC after he declared Stephen Miller “a world class hater.” Gotta love that.

We got into his views on the myth of objectivity, the difference between being fair and being neutral, and why telling the truth often means stepping outside the system. It reminded me of the differences between traditional studio filmmaking and the world of independent film. You may lose the safety net, but you often gain your voice.
