Not complaining about violence on our side so much as trying to understand this specific moment. This is not the Johnson or even Nixon administration. Every person in power in Drumpf’s regime is unbound by law, personally immune and will do whatever he says with glee. There are zero Republicans of conscience. The regime controls the corporate media to tell the story they want told. If critical masses of people hit the streets to stand up and say no - but make no impact, escalation is the answer. But not now.

It is such a privilege to hear your voice at this moment and even more your description of when the crowd came over the hill…

Powerful piece!

"If you’re more upset with the person breaking glass than you are with thugs breaking the Constitution, I’d invite you rethink your priorities. And respectfully, people who believe that orderly marches are the only way to proceed are ill-informed about the contours of history and what processes have actually moved the needle. There are many effective tools in the tool box, and this is a repair job requiring all the tools."

That story reminded me of 2 King's 6:7 of Elisha in the biblical text who thought he had no army to fight and was surrounded by the enemy. He told his servant, “those who are with us are more than are with them.” In a vision, the Lord opened Elisha's eyes and he sees what amounts to angelic force of horses and chariots of fire. He sees the divine respond with help.

I come from a military family and I'm still processing the fact that my country 's military wants to hurt me. They want to hurt me for peacefully protesting which is my legal right.

Your writing is very powerful and really contextualises the events we’re seeing only barely covered in the news. It does feel very cinematic, and like a great film and other revolutions, powerful characters will prevail to bring down this regime. Thank you for documenting your experience as it makes it all more visceral to those who don’t feel empowered

This is an absolutely amazing read! Your torch has added to my fire to find my expression of NO. To give ALL the chance to even be able to say NO is enough for me to continue fighting.

This is interesting, I understand that what I see on tv may not be what people experience up close and first hand. And what people notice and what they are interested in in their lives plays a part in their understanding. I agree with saying no to demonizing and antagonizing from high places. It is better to participate than not to participate.
