And the very book the Evangelicals exalt, the Holy Bible, clearly defines what happens to nations and kingdoms that treat "the least amongst us" as inhuman rat dung. They topple and fall into oblivion.

Incredible. Thanks for taking the time and doing such a great job at consolidating all of the horrific things that are systematically happening in our communities and our country. I especially really appreciate you highlighting the man who posed himself as ice who was a human trafficker. Men in masks taking people away with no identification has really bothered me on so many levels. Thanks also for the list of actionable things we can do in our own lives.

Thank you! After the harsh past seven days, your words resonated deeply… providing inspiration for which I (unknowingly) yearned. Sharing your lovely words with fellow rebels.

Ava, you have done it again with your wonderful poetic words. What can be done though? The fact that the opposition is doing nothing to stop this and everyone seems to be agreeing with him, I can't help but wonder are they all in it together? I'm originally from the UK and I've lived in LA for 16 years. I never thought I'd be living through a totalitarian regime. What this country needs is more Jasmine Crocketts and AOC's to restore law and order. The country was founded by rebels, who profited from slaves and practically wiped out the natives in their quest for land and power! A group of non tax paying white men, who rebelled against the British crown, who formed a constitution, which never had anything to do with "We the people" and now here we are, the rich running unregulated, allowed to do what they want, these are the real criminals. The corruption is next level.

Do you hear the people sing?

Singing a song of angry men?

It is the music of a people

Who will not be slaves again

When the beating of your heart

Echoes the beating of the drums

There is a life about to start

When tomorrow comes

Will you join in our crusade?

Who will be strong and stand with me?

Beyond the barricade

Is there a world you long to see?

Then join in the fight

That will give you the right to be free

Somebody reposted the first page of the original Star Wars novelization which I hadn’t read since I was 13. There is a lot that wasn’t in or was cut from the movie, including a quote from Princess Leia ‘‘They were in the wrong place at the wrong time. Naturally they became heroes.’’

As people of integrity and compassion who believe in justice, it would be easy to feel like we have all been stuck in the wrong place at the wrong time as we watch the procession of atrocity that has unfolded since last November, but as you say in this powerful piece, and as the turnout for Zohran has shown, there is still hope and an opportunity for us all to be heroes. Not necessarily ‘the taking down the Death Star single handed type’ of heroes but the ones who commit to working together and supporting each other as we make our individual acts of kindness, resistance and courage into a Force that will ultimately restore what has already been lost, and build what should have been there in the first place.

Thank you so much for this, Ms. DuVernau. It's exactly what the people need to know, say, and do.

I'm not strong enough to get out and take action but I sure as hell will continue to have my say online.

My greatest wish is that I live long enough to see Trump and his disciples gone; hopefully put into the Detention Centers, especially Alligator Alcatraz, where they can take Trump's advice to zig-zag when running away from alligators.

I've been protesting online for decades. The Koch Brothers, the split between Hillary Clinton's votes and Bernie Sanders' votes that gave Trump his first term. And, I'm proud to say, protesting against him nearly every day; exposing things about him from my own researching, including just how deeply he was involved with Epstein's little sex slaves.

Anyway, it's good to know there is someone like you who will grab the reins and take us where we need to go.

Thesis past week has been soul crushing. I found myself being either angry or in tears. And then a verse popped into my head,,,”Isaiah 40:31 “But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.” It’s time to be strong. It’s time to join a community, and to be heard. It’s time to fly. Thank you for the inspiration, Ava!
